On July 12, 2011 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., Legal Services Society, along with David Paterson, a lawyer and expert on Indian residential school claims, will be hosting a free information session on the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement at the upcoming 35th Annual BC Elders’ Gathering. The information session is for Indian residential school survivors who want to know what their options are under the settlement agreement and how the application and hearing processes work for the Common Experience Payment (CEP) and the Independent Assessment Process (IAP). The information session will also benefit lawyers, law students, advocates, and those who work with Aboriginal people within the justice system.
